InBody Analysis is a precision body composition assessment that measures muscle mass, fat mass, water distribution, and segmental body data using bioelectrical impedance. In about a minute, the InBody machine generates a detailed report showing where lean mass and fat are distributed across the body, intracellular and extracellular water balance, visceral fat, and basal metabolic rate. The data is used to set a clear baseline before starting body treatments, track progress objectively over time, and tailor the protocol to what your body actually needs rather than what the scale alone suggests.
The InBody device uses Direct Segmental Multi-Frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (DSM-BIA). You stand on the platform and hold the handles; a tiny, imperceptible electrical current passes through the body via electrodes on the hands and feet. Different tissues, muscle, fat, water, conduct the current differently. The device measures these differences across multiple frequencies and segments (arms, trunk, legs) to produce a precise breakdown of body composition without any estimation from height and weight alone.

Yes. The current is well below the threshold of perception and is considered safe for the vast majority of adults. People with implanted electronic devices (pacemakers, ICDs) and pregnant women should not use the InBody and will be assessed differently.
Modern multi-frequency segmental BIA correlates very well with research-grade methods like DEXA. Best accuracy comes from testing under similar conditions each time, hydrated, before food, in light clothing, with no recent heavy exercise.
For tracking a body programme, every 4-6 weeks is enough to capture meaningful change. More frequent testing can be misleading because of normal day-to-day fluctuations in hydration.
